Being Greek in a country so detatched from its mother country is REALLY hard- does anyone else feel that way? I think it's hard becuse you have to live by the expectations of the old folk who left Greece way back o'er yonder year and yet still fit in with the culture and lifestyle of another city/country. It makes me sad that we are losing our identity by being so far from Greece (although taht many would argue that we are more Greek across the seas rather than they are living there), losing our language, traditions, lifestyle- "Progress" seems to be standing on the toes of ethnic history and it's really sad to see it slipping away before our eyes! WHo knows WHAT kind of Greek my kids (if I ever have any) will learn if I can't teach them and the resources (oldies) are dying by the day...how morbid!
